Arc Flash Assessment Benefits
What are the benefits of an Arc Flash Assessment?
Who needs an arc flash assessment? According to NFPA 70E Article 130.5 all commercial businesses where electrical distribution equipment may be worked on while energized is required to perform an arc flash assessment. OSHA refers to this code as the standard for arc flash assessment requirements. The risk of electrical burns and shocks, or even explosions, do not just lie in the obvious places. An arc flash analyst is a highly trained professional who is knowledgeable about electrical currents, government standards, and safety standards when it comes to the risk of an arc flash within electrical equipment.

According to OSHA 1910.132 each employer is required to both identify workplace hazards and then protect their employees appropriately. This means that an employer is not off the hook, so to speak, if they have a hazard that they did not know about. Any electrical distribution power system has risks from arc flash, blast, and electrical shock. Electrical Safety Consulting, LLC can provide you with an Arc Flash Study that will provide you with the answers and safe work practices your company is required to provide for OSHA compliancy.
